About Green Apple Land Arts

GALA belongs to Nicole Tucker, an artist and garden designer who resides in New York City and has been involved with gardening professionally for over 10 years.

Her interests are varied and unique. After graduating with a BA in sculpture from Yale in 1995, Nicole worked a myriad of jobs while making a lot of art and traveling all over the U.S., during which time she began to fall in love with plant world in a deep way.

In 2000 she began working in a landscape maintenance firm in Connecticut. She became a Certified Plant Nurseryman in 2001, and attended the Connecticut Master Gardening course in 2002, the same year she became the head gardener for the town of Westport. That autumn, she left to attend The Harvard Graduate School of Design. She graduated with a Masters in Landscape Architecture in 2005. She worked for several prestigious Landscape Architecture firms in NYC, before launching GALA.

Nicole is inspired by all the marvelous things growing in NYC - from the tiny mosses in the cracks in the street, to rooftop farms in Queens, feral veggies in the back lots of industrial neighborhoods, to you!

Above, Nicole shares some of the images that inspire her.
